Goethe B2 Sprechen: Präsentation & Diskussion Guide

B2 speaking asks you to present a topic coherently and engage in discussion. Strong performance is organised, responsive and supported by reasons—not a recited monologue.

Quick orientation: This page is a practical Klarweg guide. For current exam rules, admission conditions or official assessment criteria, use the linked primary source.

Understand the task

A flexible presentation: introduce the topic; explain why it matters; compare options or perspectives; give an example; state your view; conclude. In discussion, acknowledge, qualify or challenge politely: „Da stimme ich teilweise zu …“ (I partly agree …), „Ein möglicher Einwand wäre …“ (One possible objection would be …).

How to prepare

Practise speaking from five keywords rather than a script. Ask your partner questions, refer to their point, and make your reasoning explicit. Record one practice presentation weekly and review structure, pronunciation and repetition.
